The Basic Characteristics Of Karting

According to the technical regulations promulgated by the International Karting
Commission (CIK). Karting specifically refers to “powered by a small gasoline engine or
electric motor, using pneumatic tires with a maximum diameter of less than 350mm, total
height from the ground (excluding headrests) less than 650mm, front-wheel-oriented,
rear-wheel drive, no differential device and shock-absorbing structure , A single-
seater miniature racing car driven by humans with four wheels in constant contact with
the ground. The definition of karts by the International Kart Commission stipulates the
range of attributes of karts:

1. Karting is a kind of racing car. According to current international regulations, its
power can only be a small gasoline engine or electric motor, and the use of diesel
engines or other types of power devices does not belong to the category of karts.

2. The total height from the ground (excluding the headrest) is less than 650mm, two
front wheels are guided, two rear wheels are driven, no differential device, and four
wheels are in constant contact with the ground. This is the basic structural feature of
karts. “High trucks” with a total height of more than 650mm from the ground and those
whose guiding, driving, and differential devices do not meet the definition of a kart
are not karts.

3. “Single-seater driven by humans” is the basic feature of karts. In the two-seater
cars that children ride in the park, neither row of cars is a kart.

4. The size of pneumatic tires is the basic feature of karts. The maximum tire diameter
of InterContinental E-Class ICE Kart and Formula E EF Kart is 350mm, and the maximum
tire width is 250mm. The rear tire width of InterContinental A-Class Junior ICA/J Kart
is 185mm. For racing karts, the maximum diameter of the front tire is 280mm, the
maximum width is 135mm, the maximum diameter of the rear tire is 300mm, and the maximum
width is 215mm. If the pneumatic tire used does not meet this size requirement, it
cannot be called a kart. The go-kart starts and enters the car scene. Therefore, the
kart has been called the “cradle of F1.”
